“That was unfortunate. It was essentially an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was filled with excitement for the Dallas team.”
He further clarified that the gesture was entirely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the wrong digit,” he remarked. “The action was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. Should you call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”

This incident isn’t the initial instance an NFL owner has been penalized for inappropriate behavior. Previous examples involve:
